I'm baaaaack.
What I've been doing while I haven't been typing/tableting:
Reading:
-MSNBC via Unfunny Business: Hospital patient left to die.
You see, this is why whenever I get a chance, I rant for a solid half hour about why everyone in the world should see Sicko. My mom was nearly murdered by the American "healthcare" system. I know what it does. The fact that we're not rioting in the streets about this bullshit only says that not enough people know what's going on.
-The Hathor Legacy: Why Film Schools Teach Screenwriters Not to Pass the Bechdel Test
I apologise to this writer for the dumb shit she had to put up with from my alma mater. (Let me guess, Richard Walter is at least partly to blame?) One is reminded of the bullcrap heard out of a certain WB president late last year.
-1Up.com: Metal Wolf Chaos
Presenting the only game where you play the deposed President of the United States of America piloting a giant battle mecha to reclaim the capitol from the VP who has usurped you, who also possesses a giant battle mecha and looks like Reeve Tuesti. Oh my god I can't believe the awesome of that entire previous sentence. How did I never hear about this before? (Here, have some graphics! And some video!)
-Kotaku: Judge Recommends Permaban for Jack Thompson
You may have heard this by now, but the Florida Bar is recommending Jack Thompson (yes, THAT asshole) for permanent disbarment. Oh, and they want to fine him $43,000.
Viewing:
7.6: The Island. No, I don't want to dwell on it either.
7.9: Batman Begins. Well, I had to see it once if I knew I was going to see The Film That Killed Heath Ledger sometime soon. It was okay, I guess. Mm, Cillian.
7.10: The Lives of Others (Das Leben der Anderen). If you haven't seen it yet, go and watch it. Now. No, there is no better time. The U.S. President is on TV letting us know that it's totally kosher for our government and civilian telecom companies to spy on us. I can't think of any better way to toast to our supposedly Democrat-controlled Congress and Obama The Big Fat Sellout for tearing up the fucking Fourth Amendment of our Constitution than by watching this movie. And when you're done watching it, watch it again. Reassure yourself that there is hope, that good men will prevail even through corruption, but also remember that it takes an awful long time for that, generally, and in the mean time the complacency of a nation ensures that innocent people will have their lives destroyed or taken away. Seriously: The Lives of Others. See it.
7.12: Ah, Frida. Back when Julie Taymor's narratives were structurally sound.
Doing:
-I confess: I was rewriting my thesis. I still need to trim it down a few more pages, but it's already a third of its previous length. Praise me, damn it.
-The Upworld/Downworld story may or may not have a new name, new protagonists, a different setting, and a gay crossdressing assassin.
-ma-com has been pulled offline while I put together the new design. Should only take a month or five.
-I helped a cinematographer friend put up a website for his reel. Go watch it! It has boobies.
-Still sucking hard at GRE math.
